Exam Eligibility Criteria 2025

To appear for the UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2025, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

    • A citizen of India
    • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan
    • A Tibetan refugee who migrated to India before January 1, 1962
    • A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Ethiopia, or Vietnam) to settle in India

AGE LIMIT 2025

IES Exam 2025 Process

Step 1: Fill Out the Application Form

  • Candidates must complete the IES application form 2025 online after registering on the UPSC official website.
  • During the form-filling process, candidates should select their preferred test center.

Step 2: Download the Admit Card

Application Fees

  • Application Fee: Candidates must pay Rs 200 to successfully submit the IES application form.
  • Exemptions: Female, SC, ST, and PH candidates are exempt from paying the application fee.

Payment Methods:

  1. Pay by Cash:
    • Candidates can pay the fee by depositing cash at any SBI branch.
    • During Part-II Registration, candidates must print the system-generated Pay-in Slip and deposit the fee at the SBI counter on the next working day only.

    • Candidates who generate their Pay-in Slip before deactivation may still pay at the SBI branch counter during banking hours on the closing date.

    • If candidates are unable to pay by cash on the closing date, they must use the online payment option, including Debit/Credit Card or internet banking, until 6:00 PM on 08.10.2024.

Selection Process

The IES selection process for 2025 consists of two primary stages, which are as follows:

Prelims & Mains Exam

To be selected, candidates must successfully clear both the Prelims and the Mains exams. The Preliminary exam is divided into two components, General Ability and Engineering Subject. The General Ability test will be at the level of an Engineering/Science graduate. Only those candidates who pass both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the Preliminary Examination will be considered eligible to appear for the Mains Examination.

Personal Interview

UPSC conducts the IES Personal Interview for all candidates who clear the Mains cutoff. Candidates who qualify for the Prelims and Mains exams will be called to participate in the IES Personality Test. The Personality Exam (Interview) carries a weightage of 200 points. IES Salary

The 7th Pay Commission governs the salary and benefits of IES officers in 2025. The previous wage structure has been substantially revised, and officers now receive an in-hand salary of INR 55,135. Additionally, the following allowances are provided:
