What is JKSET/LASET Exam ?

Jammu and Kashmir State Eligibility Test, commonly known as JK SET, is a state-level examination conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir State Government. This exam is held to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor in various colleges and universities across Jammu and Kashmir. JKSET is conducted annually in various disciplines, such as Arts, Science, Commerce, and Humanities, and attracts many candidates from all over the state. The JKSET exam is highly competitive, and candidates need to score well in the exam to secure their place in the state’s education sector.

Latest Updates from JKSET

• JK SET 2024 notification will be released in April 2024.
• Verification of documents is scheduled from 8th to 16th January 2024. For more information, visit the official website.
• The results of the JKSET (Jammu and Kashmir State Eligibility Test) 2023 have been made public by the University of Jammu.
• Those who took the exam can now check their results at www.jujkset.in, the official website.
• It should be noted by candidates that after logging in with their roll number and password on the official website, they will be able to download their JKSET Scorecards 2023. The Exam was conducted on 1st October 2023
• The University of Jammu has also released the results for the LASET (Ladakh State Eligibility Test) 2023 in addition to the JKSET Result 2023.

Interested candidates can apply through the official website. The eligibility criteria for the exam require the candidate to have a master’s degree with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade from a recognized university or institution. There is a relaxation of 5% marks for candidates belonging to the reserved categories. The JKSET exam comprises two papers, and candidates need to score well on all the papers to be eligible for the post of Assistant Professor. JK SET Exam Dates

The candidates should start preparing for the exam following last year’s syllabus. Once the dates for the examination are notified, candidates must follow the registration process and other guidelines within a given duration.

Application Fee

Registration fees must be paid while applying for the JK SET exam. During the registration process, give accurate details of the candidate and upload the valid certificates asked. Now continue the payment procedure for applying. The fee structure will be different according to the category.

JK SET Exam Eligibility Criteria

The application of the candidates who don’t follow/satisfy the eligibility criteria will not be processed. So, please go through the following criteria before applying.

• The candidate must have completed graduate exams or through UGC recognized exams from an aggregated University.
• General candidates must hold a Master’s degree with 55% of the scoring. A relaxation of 5% will be given for other categories.
• Candidates who apply for PhD through JK SET also have to possess a Master’s degree.
• Candidates from any state who are willing to work in J&K can apply for JK SET.
• Selection of the subject for papers must be relevant to the subjects during your Post Graduation.
• Those who are pursuing their final years of post-graduation may apply.
• There is no upper age limit issued.
• The nationality of the candidate must be Indian.

Exemption Criteria for JK SET

• PhD acquired candidates from the University Grants Commission (UGC) recognized institute need to take JK SET under Regulation 2009.
• Qualified candidates of UGC/ CSIR JRF exams before 1989 are also exempted from JK SET.

JK SET Vacancies

Candidates who have a JK SET scorecard can get Assistant professor and lecturer jobs only at the Universities of Jammu and Kashmir. You can also apply for UPS/ public/ government organizations that accept JK SET scorecards for lectureship jobs. However, the job vacancies are divided into categories.

The Reservation Quota Percentages for different categories are:

Job availability

JK SET is somewhat similar to the UGC NET examination. You can apply for the Assistant Professor or Lectureship Jobs at any University in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. You can also apply for other Public/ government organizations that accept SET scorecards for recruiting. The SET candidates can avail of these positions of Assistant Professors and can be a Professor in the meantime.

JK SET Syllabus

The UGC NET exam provides 82 viable options in selecting the subject. Whereas, the SET exam offers specific subjects with a language option for the selected states. Hence, the JK SET offers about 32 different subjects with 1 general paper. The general paper is designed to test the basic qualities of candidates like Aptitude, communication, reasoning, data management, etc.

There are 32 Subjects and 1 general paper in the JK SET Examination syllabus in total.

JK SET Exam Pattern

There will be no change in the exam pattern for 2021. The three papers for the JK SET exam are Paper I/General paper, Paper II, and Paper III. The total duration for the exam is 5 Hours (300 minutes) which is divided into two sessions. The First session and Second sessions will be conducted in the forenoon and afternoon respectively. The Exam pattern is tabled below.

Each question carries 2 marks and will not deduct any marks for incorrect answers. This is an offline mode exam that consists of multiple-choice questions only. The answers should be marked in Optical Mark Reader sheets (OMR) carefully.

JKSET Admit Card

The Announcement regarding the Admit Card will be released after the completion of the registration process. Only the eligible candidates who have applied for the SET exam will receive the Admit Card. The candidate will not be allowed into the exam hall in the absence of the Admit Card. It can be downloaded on the official website of the University of Kashmir. The candidates were asked to bring certain documents along with the admit card to the examination hall.

• Step 2: Search for the “Download the Admit Card for JK SET” relevant link and click it.
• Step 3: Now log in to the redirected page with the registration details, and click submit.
• Step 4: You can see your Admit Card on the screen.
• Step 5: Download it in PDF format onto your device and take Printouts.
• You are asked to take multiple Printouts to avoid losing the Admit Card.

ID Proofs to Bring with the Admit Card for JK SET 2021

The candidate will not be allowed without ID proof that validates the photo of the candidate on the admit card.

The mandatory documents to be brought are,

Candidates bringing prohibited things such as Tea, coffee, snacks, drinks, alcohol, electronic objects, smart objects, etc. The conduct of malpractice or misbehaviour by a candidate may lead to an expelling. Books and notes are not allowed inside the examination hall. A candidate who is absent for paper-I shall not be allowed to attend the remaining papers. Candidates bringing Fake ID proofs and documents will be disqualified from the exam hall.

Exam Result & Answer Key

The University of Kashmir will publish the results on its website once the answer key has been released. The Answer key will be published after the end of the examination. You can download the Answer key to check the scores and challenge/ object it. Later on, the finalized answer key will be released on the Website of UOK (University of Kashmir).

Steps to Download Provisional Answer Key

Step 1: Visit the site of the University of Kashmir.

Step 2: look for the relevant name “ Download Answer key for JK SET 2021” link and click it.

Step 3: The subject-wise answer key will be displayed on the screen.

Step 4: click and download the answer key to look in detail and evaluate your JK SET score.

Estimation of the JK SET Score

You can evaluate your papers using the Answer key released by the UOK. Each question from all papers weighs 2 marks. The candidate can credit 2 marks for every correct question and deduct zero marks as there is no negative mark. Sum it up to get the total score obtained.

Total Score= (number of correct answers in Paper-I x 2 marks) + (no of correct answers in Paper-II x 2 marks) + (no of correct answers in Paper-III x 2 marks)

You can also challenge the answer key if you find any errors in the answer within a given period after releasing the Answer key.

Way to challenge the Answer key

• Gather the required documents to prove the correction in the answer key.
• A valid explanation must be given for the mistakes or arousal of doubt in the answer key.
• Submit these details and send an e-mail Here.

Once the period for challenging the answer key is over, the final answer key will be released.

The announcement regarding the JK SET result has not been released yet. The Result will be published online and available in PDF form. You can check the qualification details in the results published. The UOK will release the E-Certificate in 5 days after the publication of the result.

• The PDF will be available, Download it if you want for future reference.

• Enter your roll number in the search box and press enter.

Steps to Download for e-certificate

• Open the University of Kashmir website 
• Click the “JK SET 2021 score” link under the announcement head.
• Enter the Roll number and date of birth of the candidate in the login section.
• Download the E-certificate in PDF format and take printouts.

Acquire the Qualification Certificate/Scorecard

The qualified candidates should apply to the University of Kashmir for the scorecard/ qualification card. You have to send a certificate fee of Rs 500 as a Demand Draft with the eligibility certificates asked for verification.

JK SET Cutoff

The selection process for UGC NET and SET are similar. According to the University of Kashmir, Only 6% of the total candidates who participated in the exam scored the minimum percentage of qualification get selected. This required mark percentage is again divided on a category basis. The general candidate must score the minimum mark of 40% and the reserved candidates need 35% of the cutoff score.

The initial minimum cut-off score required for qualification is,
