BARC Recruitment Eligibility Criteria 2025

The BARC publishes the eligibility requirements and the official notification on the official website. The following variables affect the BARC eligibility requirements:

Age Limit

The BARC age restriction varies depending on the position. The BARC age limit for each category is listed here in the following:

  • Aspirants in the General category should not be older than 26 years old.
  • Candidates from the OBC category should not be older than 29 years old.
  • The SC/ST candidates’ maximum age at the time of application for the BARC exam is 31.
  • Candidates will receive an age exemption of 31 years old if they depend on a victim of the 1984 riots.
  • If the candidates were residents of the state of Jammu and Kashmir between January 1, 1980, and December 31, 1989, they might apply up to the age of 31.
  • Candidates who are physically challenged (PwD) across all castes shall have their age relaxed by ten years.

Note: The PWD candidates can bring a scribe if they are more than 40% impaired.

Educational Qualification

Depending on the position, different educational requirements must be met to apply for the BARC exam. Read the following material to learn more about the education requirements for each role.

Engineering Disciplines

  • A minimum cumulative score in one of the engineering disciplines of 60% is required for the B.Tech, B.E., or B.Sc. Engineering)/5 Years Integrated M.Tech.
  • The BARC training school in Mumbai, Kalpakkam, or NFC Hyderabad will assign the aspirants with a background in “Nuclear Engineering” to RSES or Chemical or Mechanical.
  • The GATE score will determine whether an application is accepted, and candidates must provide their GATE 2021 or GATE 2023 score for a related Engineering discipline.

Note: If the applicants come from the fields of Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical and Automation Engineering, Industrial Production, Marine Engineering, Mining, Reliability, Ceramics, Architecture, Manufacturing Engineering, Information Technology, Master of Computer Applications, Biochemical Engineering, Dyes and Dye Intermediaries, Energy Systems, Control Engineering, Petrochemicals, Computer Science & System Engineering, Mechatronics, Sugar Technology, Power Engineering, Oils and Fats, Paint and Varnishes, Petrochemicals, BSMS program in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, Electrochemical Engineering, etc., are not capable to apply for BARC exam 2025.

Fast Reactor Technology-M (FRT-M)

B.E., B.Tech, B.Sc. (Engineering), or a five-year integrated M.Tech in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum cumulative GPA of 60%. There will not be another screening exam or interview stage for the final selection because FRT-M is another Training plan for candidates for Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

Fast Reactor Technology-E (FRT-E)

A minimum cumulative grade point average of 60% is required for a B.E., B.Tech, B.Sc. (Engineering), or 5-year integrated M.Tech in electronics engineering, electrical engineering, electronics and controls engineering, electronics and communication engineering, electronics and instrumentation engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, or electronics and telecommunication engineering.

There will not be another screening exam or interview round for the final selection because FRT-E is another Training plan for those interested in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering.

Quality Control and Quality Assurance (QA and QC)

B.E., B.Tech, B.Sc. (Engineering), or a 5-year Integrated M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgy, Metallurgy and Materials Science, Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science, or Materials Science and Engineering with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 60%.

There will not be another screening exam or interview round for final selection because QA and QC is another training program for those who want to study mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering.

BARC Recruitment Application 2025

The BARC application procedure for the positions of  OCES or DGFS programs, Trainee Scientific Officers (TSOs), and DGFS Fellows is expected to begin soon. Qualified applicants may apply for the BARC 2025 exam. The sole available application method is online. The application costs are INR 500, INR 150, and INR 100 for General and OBC candidates. Women and applicants from SC/ST groups are excluded from paying the application fee.

How to Apply?

  • Now, pay the 500 INR application fee (plus bank fees) online using net banking, a debit card, or a credit card. The application cost is not refundable it should be mentioned.

Application Based on GATE Score

After the announcement of results, candidates who desire to apply for the BARC DGFS/OCES 2025 based on their GATE score must fill up their GATE data. They must however finish the application process by the deadline. Applicants who plan to apply based on GATE 2025 must upload their scores during the application process.

How to Apply?

Step 1: Primary Phase:

Candidates must select an Applied Discipline (also known as an Examination Discipline) and a Qualifying Degree. Add more information, such as your name, mother’s name, date of birth, email address, mobile number, etc. Upon entering the information, the specific Login ID and Password. Step 2: OTP Activation:

Candidates will receive an OTP to their registered email address and mobile number after completing the first stages. Additionally, candidates can use the BARC portal’s “Activate through OTP” option to activate their application.

Candidates must now choose between the GATE score and the online exam as their screening method. Candidates who select the GATE 2024 score must provide their GATE information at this time. The GATE score must be submitted no later than the mentioned date, for the GATE 2025 score option.

Step 6: Payment of Application Fee

  • Male applicants from the General and OBC categories must pay a non-refundable application fee of INR 500.
  • If the male candidates are from Jammu and Kashmir and one or more of their dependents perished in the 1984 riots, they must also pay INR 500.
  • Candidates from the SC/ST category, transgender people, those who depend on Defence Personnel Killed in Action (DODPOKIA), and people with disabilities (PWD) are not required to pay the BARC application costs.
  • The SBI Payment Gateway must be used to pay the application cost. If more than one payment is made, there will be no return.

Step 7: Application Submission

Candidates must submit the application form after completing all of the aforementioned steps. They must carefully review all the information on the application form. No changes will be accepted after the submission is complete. A Registration Number will be generated following the last submission.

Note: After carefully reviewing the information on the application form, submit it to BARC. After the final submission, no alterations are permitted. There is no requirement to mail or email any paperwork or a BARC application form. Online applications are accepted for all positions. The application form must only be filled out once, and papers must be uploaded.

Application to DGFS

  • The applicants must have an engineering degree in one of the following fields: MT, CH, EC, EE, IN, CE, CS., or ME if they meet the DGFS eligibility requirements, they may also apply for OCES.
  • Admission confirmation for M.Chem. Engineering and M.Tech Engineering students will be announced by the third week of August 2025.
  • It is not necessary to receive a DGFS Fellowship if the candidates receive admission to one of the recognized M.Tech specializations at a DGFS Institute in addition to OECS selection. Only the requirements of the DAE’s programs drive the provision of the DGFS.

BARC Recruitment Exam Pattern

The BARC exam will be offered online , drawing many applications each year and elevating its status as one of the toughest tests for government employment. The cutoff scores must be met by candidates to be eligible for further consideration.

BARC Recruitment Result 2025

BARC will announce the results for OCES and DGFS once the exam is completed. The deadline for the same will be announced soon. Trainee Scientific Officers will have the opportunity to apply for an M.Tech. at Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) if they complete the Training Programme and demonstrate performance that meets the fundamental eligibility requirements. The trainee may, however, enrol their names in the Post Graduate Diploma course at HBNI if they are not interested in the M.Tech. programmes.
  1. Appointment in DAE units is acknowledged as ‘Group A’ Gazetted officers of the Government of India. However, all other than NPCIL, UCIL, and Bhavini are subject to Corporations’ service regulations.

Training and Empowerment: DAE Fellowship Scheme

It is anticipated that the two-year DAE Fellowship Scheme for Physics Postgraduates and Engineering Graduates will begin in July or August 2025.

  • According to the plan, the Engineering Graduates and the Physics Postgraduates will demonstrate their excellence in the Selection Interviews for the BARC Training Programme Schools and will independently apply for the M.Chem. Engineering/M. Tech programs in the chosen Institutions and specializations will be eligible to avail of the stipend and tuition fees. If you stay employed as an M.Chem Engineering/M. Tech in DAE, you will receive this stipend and payment for your tuition.
  • The DGFS Fellows will be able to begin their project work once the Institute’s one-year coursework is finished. The DAE will designate the project. After that, a DAE and an Institute guide will oversee the project.
  • The applicants will be employed as Scientific Officers in DAE once they have completed their M.Chem Engineering or M.Tech degrees. The Fellows will be given the title of “Group A” Gazetted Officer by the Indian government.
  • The fellows will depart immediately after joining for the four-month Orientation Course at the BARC Training School in Mumbai.
  • The following DAE units are where the DGFS fellows will be posted:
  • BARC, Mumbai. The applicants will be placed at any of the BARC sites in India.
  • Kalpakkam, IGCAR

Training and Empowerment: Allowances and Stipend

The fellows are entitled to a stipend of INR 55,000 per month during the training duration. The Fellows are furthermore qualified to receive a one-time book allowance of INR 18000. The DGFS fellows will obtain the reimbursement of the M.Tech/ M.Chem. Engineering tuition price. A one-time Contingency Grant of INR 25,000 will be given to those Fellows to cover project-related costs for their M.Tech or M.Chem. Engineering degrees.

The OCES TSOs and the DGFS Fellows must stay and eat at the DAE Hostel while they are undergoing training.

After finishing the three years of training, the chosen aspirants must sign a Personal Indemnity Bond and a pledge to serve DAE. For the OCES TSOs and DGFS Fellows, the indemnity bonds are for INR 6,78, 000 and INR 13,58,000, respectively.

However, Institutes may have a different bond amount for DGFS Fellows. The associated Institute determines the tuition costs.

Note: If selected for the position through BARC Recruitment 2023, candidates will also receive additional benefits besides the salary they are guaranteed, including Transport Allowance, Provident Fund, Contributory Pension fund, Festival Bonus, and Medical Facility. 4. To apply for Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QA & QC, code 32), the candidate must have completed B.E. /B.Tech. /B.Sc. (Engineering)/5-year Integrated M.Tech. In Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering with at least 60% aggregate marks in the qualifying degree.
5. The candidate who is into the Fast Reactor Technology-E (FRT-E, code 31) must hold a degree B.E. /B.Tech. /B.Sc. (Engineering)/5-year Integrated M.Tech. In Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering the candidate with at least 60% aggregate marks in the qualifying degree.
6. Those who apply for Fast Reactor Technology-M (FRT-M, code 30) must have done B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc.(Engineering)/5-year Integrated M.Tech. In Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering with at least 60% aggregate marks in the qualifying degree.
