Any applicant interested in taking the IBPS PO examination must be between 20 and 30 at registration. The IBPS PO age limit allows for a few exemptions in specific categories as per the government rules:

IBPS PO: Educational Qualification

Graduation Degree: The authority specifies that the candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a GOI-recognized university. Any candidate with qualifications equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, such as AMIE, or departmental courses recognized by the government, is also eligible. The candidate must specify the percentage obtained in the Graduation while registering for the exam. The candidates should convert their CGPA marks into a rate calculated to the nearest two decimals. The fraction of the percentage obtained will not be taken into account. For instance, 59.99% will be counted as less than 60%, and 64.99% as less than 65%.

Computer Literacy: An applicant must have working knowledge of computer systems for the post of PO, and also be able to appear for the IBPS PO exam taken online.

Language Proficiency: It is preferable if the candidate has verbal and written proficiency in the official language of the State/UT. The applicant must be able to read, write, and speak the official language.

IBPS PO: Nationality/Citizenship Criteria

A candidate applying for the IBPS PO exam should fulfill the following criteria:

  1. A Citizen of India
  2. A Subject of Nepal or Bhutan
  3. A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, to permanently reside in India.
  4. A Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who migrated from Sri Lanka, Burma, Pakistan, Vietnam, or East African countries of Tanzania, Zambia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Zaire, Uganda, and Malawi, to permanently reside in India.

Candidates who are not Indian citizens (category 2, 3, and 4) must have and present a certificate of eligibility provided by the Government of India.

IBPS PO: How to Apply?

Application fees

To complete the online registration process, the candidates must pay fee/intimation charges online by providing the required details using Debit Cards (RuPay / Visa / MasterCard / Maestro), IMPS, Cash Cards/Mobile Wallets, Credit Cards, and Internet Banking. The charges are non-refundable on any account nor transferable to another exam or selection. The table below specifies the category-wise fee structure for the IBPS PO 2024 online application.

Application Steps

The candidates can complete the online application process by registering on the website. The IBPS PO 2024 exam application form is expected to be released in August 2024 with the official notification.

The candidates must have the following prerequisites before filling out the online form:

  • A valid email address and contact number
  • Impression of their left thumb
  • Scanned photograph (200 by 230 Pixels) and signature (140 by 60 Pixels)
  • Bank details and documents that are required to pay the application fee online
  • Graduation mark sheet
  • A handwritten declaration

There are six steps to completing the online application procedure, which must be filled in for the conducting body to recognize no discrepancies.

Step 1 – Online Registration

  • Visit the official ibps.in website
  • Click on the “CWE PO/MT” tab on the left side of the window.
  • Next, click on the link “Click Here to Apply Online for CWE Probationary Officers/ Management Trainee (CWE PO/ MT- IX)” on the display screen.
  • Click on the “Click Here for New Registration” tab on the upper right-hand side and fill out your Email ID, Mobile Number, Security Code, and other details to register for the exam. Click ‘Save & Next’ after entering the details.
  • Press the ‘ Ok ‘ button when a new dialogue box pops up.
  • Following successful registration, a provisional registration number and password are generated.
  • The candidates will receive an email and an SMS with their IBPS Registration login credentials.

Step 2 – Uploading Photograph and Signature in the Prescribed Dimensions

Using their login credentials, the candidate should access their account and upload the documents required by the IBPS:

  • Scanned photograph
  • Scanned signature (Note: Signature in capital letter is not accepted)

Step 3 – Fill Out Your Details

This step has three subsections:

  1. Basic Details: The candidate is required to fill out basic information about themselves, for example, category, nationality, birth date, gender, etc.
  1. Educational Qualification, Work Experience & Languages: The candidate needs to provide details of their graduation, such as year of passing, percentage of marks, etc, and the languages they can speak, read, and write.
  1. Preference List: The candidate can select the preferred centers for Pre Exam Training and the participating bank to be recruited in. Remember that no changes can be made once the form is submitted.

Once the choices are made, click on ‘Save and Next’ to continue.

Step 4 – Preview of the IBPS PO Online Application Form

Preview and go through your application carefully and edit if you notice any errors. Once the information is saved, no changes can be made later in the form. Following that, the applicant is required to agree to the terms and conditions by clicking on the ‘I Accept’ box.

Step 5 – Uploading Required Documents

The candidates must upload their handwritten declaration and leave a thumb impression per the guidelines before proceeding with the fee payment.

The permissible file format is jpg/jpeg. The file’s dimensions must be 800 by 400 pixels in 200 DPI. The prescribed file size is 50–100 kb.

Note: In the absence of a left thumb, a candidate may use their right thumb. If both thumbs are missing, an impression of one of the fingers on the left hand, beginning with the forefinger, should be given. If no fingers are present on the left hand, an impression of one of the right hand’s fingers beginning with the forefinger should be obtained. The left toe impression may be used if no fingers are available. The candidate should mention in the uploaded document the name of the finger and the specification of the left/right hand or toe in all such instances when the left thumb impression is unavailable.

Handwritten Declaration Text:

“I, _______ (Name of the candidate), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true, and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required.”

Step 6 – Payment of the Application Fee

All payments shall be made online. The payment gateway is embedded in the application form. Upon successful completion of the fee, a message reading “Payment Successful” and the payment transaction number will appear on the screen. An e-receipt is generated after the completion of the payment.

Candidates are advised to print out the receipt and online application form.

IBPS PO: Admit Card

The admit card for IBPS PO 2024 will be available for download 10 to 15 days before the exam on their official website. The candidate must download the IBPS PO 2024 Admit Card, as the hard copy will not be sent through the post. The candidates will require their Registration Number/Roll No. and Date of Birth/Password to log in and access the admit card. Candidates will be able to download their admit card for all stages by following the below steps:

  • Go to the official IBPS website: ibps.in
  • After that, select the “Click Here to Download Online Call Letter for IBPS PO/MTs” tab.
  • Enter your login credentials, Registration ID/Roll Number generated at the time of filling out the IBPS PO online application form, and Password / Date of Birth.
  • The admit card will be presented on the desktop screen.
  • Download and print the IBPS PO 2024 admit card.

IBPS PO Prelims

The IBPS PO preliminary examination has a maximum score of 100 marks and is divided into 3 sections with a total of 100 questions. The three sections include:

The total allotted time for 100 questions is 60 minutes, with 20 minutes allocated for each section. For each incorrect response, 0.25 marks are deducted from your final score in the IBPS PO pre-exam. To qualify for the IBPS PO Main examination, candidates must pass the IBPS PO cut-off in each of the three sections.

IBPS PO Mains

The candidates qualifying for the prelims exam are called for the mains exam. The IBPS PO Mains examination has two papers, both conducted in online mode. The two papers include an Objective Test and a Descriptive test. The total time allocated for the first paper is 180 minutes, and 30 minutes for the second paper. For each incorrect response, one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted. No marks will be deducted in case of an unattempted question.

Candidates passing the bank PO Main exam are invited for a face-to-face interview.

  • The interview carries 100 marks, of which the candidates must secure 40% to be considered for the merit list.
