Canada limits international student work hours to 20 per week during semesters, prioritizing studies but still allowing income and Canadian work experience, here are some things to know.

Current Limit

Since May 1st, 2024, international students in Canada can work up  to 20 hours per week off-campus during regular academic sessions.

Temporary Increase

There was a temporary policy in place from November 15, 2022, to December 31, 2023, allowing international students to work unlimite.

Future Change

Starting Fall 2024, the limit will increase to 24 hours per week during term time.

Full-Time During Breaks

Students can still work full-time  during scheduled breaks, like summer and winter holidays.
