Foundation and Inspiration

The idea for Akshardham Temple was conceived by Yogiji Maharaj, the fourth spiritual successor of Swaminarayan, in 1968.

Construction and Inauguration

The construction of the Akshardham Temple in Delhi began in 2000 under the guidance of Pramukh Swami Maharaj on November 6, 2005.

Architectural Design

The temple, designed by BAPS, follows the traditional Vastu Shastra and Pancharatra Shastra principles, It was built using pink sandstone and hite marble.

Main Temple Structure

The central monument, the Akshardham Mandir, stands 141 feet high, 316 feet wide, and 356 feet long, making it one of the largest Hindu temples in the world.

Akshardham Temple features several cultural and spiritual exhibitions, including, the Sahaj Anand Water Show, and Yagnapurush Kund etc.
