SSC CHSL is the national level examination for administrative roles meant for candidates who have completed their class 10th exams. There are three tiers, the first is a multiple choice type computer-based test. After qualifying this round, the second tier is a descriptive paper. Tier two tests the writing skills of candidates in either English or Hindi. There is an essay writing of 200 to 250 words and a letter writing section of 150 to 200 words. Both questions are mandatory.
The SSC CHSL previous year question paper had a third tier which is a skills test. Individuals had to take up a typing test of 15 minutes in duration. SSC requires a minimum typing speed of 35 wpm for English and 30 wpm for Hindi.
