Are you aspiring to become a Junior Research Fellow or Assistant Professor? Then you are familiar with UGC NET. In 2021, 12,66,509 people registered for this exam, and only 43,730 qualified.

How to Select the Subjects for UGC NET?

Choosing the right subject while you fill out the UGC NET application form is crucial. UGC prescribes that you only select your Post Graduate specialisation as your subject. You can choose a related subject if your specialisation is not included in the UGC NET subject list.

Note:

  1. Masters in Geography (Population Studies), Mathematics, or Statistics can choose Population Studies.
  2. Masters in Humanities, Languages, and Social Sciences can choose Women’s Studies.

Important Factors of the UGC NET Exam

Some critical information about the UGC NET exam:

  1. UGC NET comprises Paper 1 and Paper 2
  2. Paper 1(General) – 50 questions
  3. Paper 2 (Subject-specific) – 100 questions
  4. Total time: 3 Hours (without a break between papers 1 and 2)
  5. Total marks: 300
  6. All the questions are MCQs with four options
  7. For each correct answer, two marks will be awarded
  8. No negative markings for wrong or unanswered questions
  9. In case UGC drops any question, candidates will be granted full marks for that question
