BTET Eligibility

To participate in the examination, one must meet the eligibility standards established by the governing bodies. So for that reason, before applying for the BTET 2024 examination, it is essential to review the eligibility criteria. Eligibility is restricted to Indian nationals who are residents of Bihar state.

Age Limit for BTET

  • Applicants must have a minimum age of 21 years as of January 1, 2024.
  • Applicants must have a maximum age of 35 years as of January 1, 2024.
  • Female/SC/ST/OBC applicants are eligible for age relaxation of 5% based on the reservation criteria defined by the examination authorities.
  • For reserved category female candidates, only one reservation rule is applied.

Educational Qualification for BTET

Paper-I: For Teachers I-V class (Primary Level)

  • Applicants must have passed Class X with at least 45% marks in aggregate or equivalent.
  • Candidates who have completed their graduation with at least 50% marks in B.SC/BA/B.Ed. degree can apply for BTET 2024. Also, students appearing in the Final Four Year Bachelor of Elementary Education, a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, or a 2-year Diploma in Special Education can also apply.

Paper-II: For Teachers VI-VIII Class (Upper Primary Level)

  • Candidates who have completed their graduation and passed/appearing in the final year of 2-year D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education) are eligible to apply for BTET 2024.
  • Those who have completed their graduation with at least 50% marks and passed/appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.), appearing or passed in the final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed),  B.A/B.Sc. Ed or B.A.Ed./B.Sc. Ed are also eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who have completed their Graduation with a minimum of 45% marks and passed/appearing in 1- year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) can also apply for BTET 2024.
