The eligibility criteria for the Non-Technical Popular Categories exam released by RRB does not specify any mandatory work experience. As a result, fresh graduates without any prior work experience can apply for the examination.

The recruitment process for the RRB NTPC exam involves several stages, which are as follows:

CBT 1

  • Aspirants are screened through the 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT) conducted by the authorities.

CBAT

  • A Computer-Based Aptitude Test is administered for the positions of Station Master and Traffic Assistant.
  • Candidates are shortlisted for Skill Tests, including the Computer-based Aptitude Test and Typing Skill Test, based on the merit of their performance in the RRB NTPC CBT 2 exam. Generally, the number of shortlisted candidates is eight times the number of available positions.
  • The CBAT will provide question-and-answer options exclusively in English and Hindi.
  • There is no negative marking in the CBAT.
  • The merit list will be compiled from candidates who qualify for the CBAT. The marks obtained in 2nd Stage CBT will carry 70% weightage, while the marks obtained in the CBAT will carry 30% weightage.

  • The Typing Skill Test is conducted for various positions, including Junior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper,  Senior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts  Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, Clerk cum Typist, and Senior Time Keeper.
  • The number of candidates shortlisted for the RRB NTPC Typing Test is eight times the number of vacancies that will be invited for the typing test.
  • Candidates are required to demonstrate their typing ability by achieving a minimum speed of 25 WPM in Hindi or 30 words per minute (WPM) in English, using a personal computer without access to editing tools or spell check.

  • To pass, applicants must achieve a minimum score of 42 marks in each test series. These minimum qualifying marks are applicable regardless of the applicant’s category (ST/SC/OBC NCL/PWBD/EWS/Ex-Servicemen).
  • The merit list for Station Master/Traffic Assistant is prepared by giving 30% weightage to CBAT and 70% weightage to CBT 2.

Tie-Breaking Policy for RRB NTPC Result

  • In the event of two or more candidates obtaining the same marks, the merit is determined based on the age criteria, with older candidates placed at a higher merit position.
  • If the candidates are the same age, the alphabetic order,i.e., A to Z, of the name is taken into account to break the tie.

CUT-OFF FOR RRB NTPC 2024

  • The cutoff for RRB NTPC 2022 CBT 1 represents the minimum qualifying marks.
  • The RRB NTPC cutoff 2022 is determined by normalizing the marks across all sittings.

SELECTION PROCESS FOR RRB NTPC 2024

The selection process for RRB NTPC 2024 consists of five main stages. Below is a detailed description of the selection procedure:

Computer Based Test 1 (CBT-1)

The initial stage of the selection process is CBT-1, which serves as a screening test. The marks obtained in the first stage will be normalized to shortlist candidates for the second stage CBT.

Computer Based Test 2 (CBT-2)

Candidates who successfully clear CBT-1 proceed to the second stage, CBT-2. Upon passing the second stage CBT, candidates are required to appear for a skill exam specific to the positions they have applied for.

CBAT/Typing Test Skill Test

For candidates applying for Traffic Assistant and Station Master positions, the RRB NTPC CBAT is mandatory. A minimum T-Score of 42 marks is required to qualify.

Candidates who have applied for Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper,  Senior Clerk cum Typist,  Junior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, and Senior Time Keeper will also need to take this test.

Candidates are expected to type at least 25 WPM in Hindi or 30 words per minute (WPM) in English using a Personal Computer, without the use of editing tools or spell check.
